About the Opportunity
Our client is an award winning venture-backed Agri-Tech business using technology to improve livestock care and help farmers make better day-to-day decisions. With a collaborative, fast-growing team and a culture built around ownership, teamwork and real-world impact, they are continuing to invest in their data capability.
We are now looking to appoint a Senior Data Engineer to help scale and mature their data warehouse and BI platform. This is a hands-on role focused on building reliable, well-modelled datasets that power reporting, analytics and downstream business tools across the organisation.
Working across BigQuery, SQL, DBT, Python and Prefect, you will help improve the robustness, performance and scalability of the analytics environment while partnering closely with both technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements
You will be an experienced Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer with strong expertise in data modelling, warehouse development and BI-ready datasets within a modern cloud data environment.
You will ideally bring:
• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or a closely related role
• Strong SQL skills and deep experience designing dimensional models, including facts, dimensions and marts
• Hands-on experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, ideally BigQuery
• Experience with DBT or a similar transformation framework
• Good working knowledge of Python for data pipelines, orchestration or backend data tooling
• Experience building and supporting production-grade analytics workflows and downstream BI consumption
• A pragmatic mindset with a focus on correctness, scalability and business usability
• The ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving environment where ownership and adaptability are important
Additional experience of interest:
• Experience with Prefect, Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools
• Familiarity with Looker / LookML
• Experience supporting Power BI users or other BI consumers
• Exposure to data quality checks, testing frameworks or observability tooling
• Previous experience in a startup or similarly agile business environment

Role & Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening the company’s data warehouse and analytics platform, ensuring data is reliable, well-structured and ready to support business reporting and decision-making.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing, building and maintaining scalable data models within a BigQuery-based warehouse
• Developing and improving SQL-based transformation layers, with an emphasis on clean, well-documented dimensional modelling
• Contributing to and extending Python-based data infrastructure used for orchestration, monitoring and platform reliability
• Ensuring data quality, consistency and usability for reporting, analytics and downstream tools
• Supporting and enhancing the BI ecosystem, with data consumed through Looker ML and Power BI
• Working closely with engineering, product and business stakeholders to translate analytical needs into durable data structures
• Helping improve the performance, scalability and resilience of the wider data platform
• Contributing to best practice across documentation, testing and maintainability
